The horror thriller "Obsession" has expanded to digital streaming platforms as of Tuesday, June 30, 2026, while continuing its successful theatrical run.
Focus Features acquired the distribution rights for approximately $15 million at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival.

Written and directed by Curry Barker, the independent production was made on a minimal budget of $750,000 before marketing expenses.
The story follows Bear, a music store worker played by Michael Johnston, who uses a mystical "One Wish Willow" to make his co-worker Nikki, portrayed by Inde Navarrette, fall in love with him.
The plot turns into horror when Nikki develops a lethal obsession with maintaining their relationship.
The R-rated film earned $17.1 million domestically during its opening weekend from May 15-17. Ticket sales increased in the following weeks before stabilizing.
During the weekend of June 26-28, the movie brought in $9.8 million across 2,965 cinemas in North America in its seventh week of release.

This brought the domestic cumulative total to $233.8 million.
Combined with an international gross of $137.3 million, the worldwide box office earnings reached $371.1 million.
The premium video-on-demand release allows audiences to buy the film for $24.99 or rent it for a 48-hour period for $19.99 on platforms such as Prime Video, Fandango at Home, and YouTube Movies & TV.
Director Curry Barker has already started post-production on his next project, a supernatural comedy titled "Anything but Ghosts."
The film features an ensemble cast including Bryce Dallas Howard, Aaron Paul, Cooper Tomlinson, and Barker himself.

The new production is separate from "Obsession" in storyline, but cast members have confirmed it will include a subtle narrative nod and an Easter egg referencing the character of Nikki.
