Spain defeated Austria 3-0 on Thursday at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, to reach the World Cup quarterfinals for the first time since 2010.
Mikel Oyarzabal scored twice, and Pedro Porro added a second-half header for La Roja, which controlled possession and held Austria without a single shot on target.

Goalkeeper Unai Simón recorded his fourth consecutive clean sheet of the tournament without making a save, while Austrian keeper Alexander Schlager made six saves to keep the scoreline respectable.
Oyarzabal opened the scoring in the 36th minute from a Marc Cucurella pass after a hydration break, then sealed the win in the 89th minute with another assist from Cucurella.
"I'm happy to have helped the team to go through another round," Oyarzabal said. "Now just rest and get ready for the next one."
Spain's victory extends its unbeaten streak in competitive matches to 35 games, dating back to March 2023, a run that includes winning the 2023 Nations League and the 2024 European Championship.

Eighteen-year-old winger Lamine Yamal had four of Spain's 10 shots on goal before being substituted in the 85th minute, shortly after Austria's David Alaba cleared a shot off the line.
Spain's second goal came after halftime when Álex Baena crossed to an unmarked Porro, who headed in his first international goal.
Austria's campaign ends in the round of 16, its first knockout appearance since 1998. The nation has not won a World Cup knockout match since 1954.
