Cybercriminals are actively targeting Grand Theft Auto 6 enthusiasts following the official availability of pre-orders for the highly anticipated video game, according to a security warning issued by cybersecurity firm Gen Digital on July 3, 2026.
Bad actors are leveraging the immense global popularity of the upcoming title to deploy fraudulent pre-order platforms designed to harvest personal information and compromise user accounts.

The scale of the launch has created an unprecedented environment for consumer exploitation.
Iskander Sanchez-Rola, the Senior Director of AI and Innovation at Norton's parent company Gen Digital, warned that major game launches consistently draw malicious actors.
"GTA 6 zit op een compleet andere schaal," said Sanchez-Rola, highlighting the massive volume of traffic surrounding the game.
The security firm observed that malicious actors do not need to compromise the game developer directly to achieve their goals.
Cybercriminals position themselves between enthusiastic buyers and the actual product transactions.
The threat extends beyond search engine results into gaming communication applications and social networks.
