Indian teenager Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made history on July 4, 2026, by becoming the second youngest cricketer to represent a Full Member men's Test team.

He debuted against England in Manchester at the age of 15 years and 99 days.

Sooryavanshi joins an elite list of teenage prodigies, following the footsteps of legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar, who debuted in Karachi in 1989.

According to Cricinfo, Sooryavanshi's entry into international cricket marks a significant milestone.

Historical Debutants

The record for the youngest Full Member debut is held by Pakistan's Hasan Raza, who played against Zimbabwe in 1996 at 14 years and 227 days.

However, doubts about his age later surfaced.

Other young debutants include Bangladesh's Mohammad Sharif, who debuted at 15 years and 116 days in 2001, and Pakistan's Mushtaq Mohammad, who played against the West Indies in 1959 at 15 years and 124 days.

Pakistan fast bowler Aaqib Javed also started his international career young, debuting in an ODI against the West Indies in December 1988 at 16 years and 127 days.

When considering all cricketing nations globally, Marian Gherasim remains the youngest international debutant, playing for Romania against Bulgaria at 14 years and 16 days in October 2020.
