I questioned, can I push off it? I questioned, should I lead it, or should I stash it behind me and switch my stance?'

So, Conor's going to be dealing with those things. No matter what, Conor is not Superman," said Sonnen.

McGregor previously addressed his rehabilitation process during a 2023 interview with journalist Ariel Helwani.

He acknowledged facing initial doubts about his career but stated he eventually recovered full kicking functionality.

"I'm able to kick with it," said McGregor.

The Irish fighter expressed complete confidence at the time regarding the structural integrity of his leg.

"I'm kicking hard, I'm kicking fast.

And you best believe I'm looking to take this guy out with the steel bar in my leg, for sure," said McGregor.

Former heavyweight champion Jon Jones expressed admiration for McGregor's decision to return to active competition during an interview with Red Corner MMA.

Jones noted that McGregor possesses the financial security to retire comfortably but chooses to continue fighting due to his passion for the sport.

"Conor doesn't need to fight," said Jones.

Jones compared his own career choices to McGregor's persistence, noting that he chose to step away after reaching the pinnacle of the sport.

"He has everything, and I respect the fact that he's coming back to fight so much because it shows that he's a fighter in his heart.

Me, I've got to a certain level, and I decided to walk away.

Conor, he's back and it just shows how much he loves the sport and shows that he's still that fighter despite having so much success.
