A total of 23 shooting clubs have advanced to the next round of the Oud Limburgs Schuttersfeest (OLS) in Melick.

The competition took place on Sunday, July 5, 2026, and saw 104 other teams miss their targets.

According to L1 Nieuws, more than 130 shooting clubs originally arrived in Melick for the annual event. Of those, 127 actively competed for the coveted d'n Um trophy.

The opening day eliminated the vast majority of competitors. Only a fraction of the field remains eligible to continue the contest next week.

The competition commenced around 4:45 p. m.

on Sunday. Dozens of teams faced immediate elimination as missed shots were recorded on their scorecards.

Sint Martinus from Horn became the first shooting club knocked out of the race.

Meanwhile, 47 clubs managed to survive into the second half of the shooting match before the day wrapped up just before 9:00 p.

m.

The remaining 23 squads are regionally distributed.

Eleven hail from Central Limburg, six from South Limburg, four from Belgian Limburg, and two from North Limburg.

The lone representative from North Brabant, the Sint Nicolaas & Sint Antonius shooting club from Budel, was eliminated at approximately 8:20 p.

m. on Sunday evening.

Four participating clubs are ineligible to win the main trophy due to regulatory rules. However, one of these non-competing teams successfully advanced to the next stage.

Regulations bar clubs from winning d'n Um if they have already organized the OLS within the past five years.

This year's festival is hosted by the St. Andreas shooting club from Melick.

The competition is scheduled to resume on Saturday, July 11, 2026. The final winner will claim the trophy and earn the right to host the event next year.
