Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti has dismissed the need for special defensive tactics to contain Norway striker Erling Haaland in their World Cup round of 16 match at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Ancelotti expressed full confidence in his defenders, noting that players like Gabriel and Marquinhos have faced Haaland in the Premier League and Champions League.

"Everyone knows how he plays. I don't have to explain to my defenders how to play against him.

Of course, they have already dealt with him a few times," said Ancelotti.

The Italian manager emphasized that the team will stick to their standard defensive principles rather than designing a unique system for the Norwegian striker.

"I don't think there is any special plan for Haaland. I don't have to tell my players how to defend," added Ancelotti.

Ancelotti also highlighted that Brazil's comeback victory against Japan in the previous round has boosted squad morale.

"We have to play at the highest level, but I think we are at a point where we can do it because we are confident," stated Ancelotti.

He noted that the grueling nature of recent matches has prepared the team for any scenario in the knockout stage.

"We emerged victorious from a difficult match against Japan and we are prepared for anything that might happen, just as we were before the last match," explained Ancelotti.

On squad fitness, Ancelotti provided an update on winger Raphinha, who missed the last two games with a thigh injury but is nearing a return.
