The National Weather Service has issued flood watches and weather advisories for several Northeast Ohio counties following heavy rainstorms that moved through the area on Sunday, July 5, 2026.
The flood watch remained in effect until 10 p. m.

Sunday for Lorain, Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Medina, Summit, Portage, Wayne, and Stark counties.
Cuyahoga County also experienced a localized flood advisory earlier in the afternoon.
Severe thunderstorm warnings and brief tornado warnings were triggered across the region, though a tornado warning for Portage County was later canceled.
Rainfall amounts exceeded one inch in multiple locations by Sunday afternoon.
Meteorologists said spotty wet weather would continue overnight into Monday morning, bringing mild and muggy conditions with lows in the upper 60s.

Monday Forecast
Scattered to numerous rain showers, downpours, and storms are expected to develop again on Monday.
Rain coverage is forecast to peak during Monday afternoon, potentially bringing gusty winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning.
Temperatures on Monday will be around 80 degrees, a significant drop from the intense heat wave recorded the previous week.
Cleveland had reached over 95 degrees on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
The recent heat wave was one of the hottest stretches for the city in several decades.

Forecasters expect temperatures to remain in the lower to mid 80s for most of the week before another cold front arrives Thursday.
