An internal inquiry was launched by Pizza Express into whether Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor had visited its Woking branch, according to a report by BBC Newsnight on July 6, 2026.
The investigation followed a 2019 interview where the former prince claimed he was at the Surrey restaurant on the day he allegedly assaulted Virginia Giuffre.

Senior management at the pizza chain reviewed past records and attempted to interview former staff members, but found no evidence confirming or denying the visit.
Giuffre alleged she was forced to have sex with Mountbatten-Windsor three times, including an incident on March 10, 2001, after dining and dancing in London.
During his 2019 interview, Mountbatten-Windsor disputed the timeline, stating he had taken his daughter to a party at the Woking restaurant before spending the night at home.
Unbroadcast footage from the interview revealed additional details about the restaurant visit and the royal household's schedule on that day.
"I'd taken Beatrice to a Pizza Express in Woking," said Mountbatten-Windsor.
The former prince explained that his staff had verified the information by reviewing official diaries during that period.
"This has all been worked out by my staff, who've looked at the diary and everything else," said Mountbatten-Windsor.
He added that his family maintained a strict rule regarding childcare whenever his former wife was traveling out of the country.
"The duchess [Sarah Ferguson] was away, I think, United States somewhere.
And we had a very simple rule: at that stage, the children had one or other of us for all, most of the, well, as often as we could manage," said Mountbatten-Windsor.
