"The boys got to go to school for more years than girls; they had more privileges than us," said Skywalker Hughes, who plays a role.
"I wouldn't be able to do a lot of the things I love."
Actor Crosby Fitzgerald, who plays Caroline Ingalls, noted her family's long-standing appreciation for the books.
"My mom was collecting box sets of the books during the audition process," said Fitzgerald.
"The pressure was on, but I read the script and I was so excited that this already beloved story was going to have such an expansive edition to it that I think people are really going to love."
The role of Laura was highly emotional for the young lead actress during the casting process.
"When I was told I had gotten the part, I cried," said Alice Halsey, who plays Laura. "I was sobbing in the backseat of my car.
It's such a privilege to be part of the Little House world."

Literary historian Caroline Fraser explained that the older Wilder sought to memorialize her parents through her writing.
"Wilder had complicated feelings and motivations and wanted to memorialize her parents, especially her father," said Fraser.
"He did it with a glint in his eye that told her it would be all right."
