The 2026 Mini Aceman JCW e is the flagship electric version of Mini's crossover. It promises sporty driving dynamics in a compact EV package.

After a week behind the wheel, the verdict is mixed: it's quick and engaging, but compromised by a ride that's too firm for everyday roads.

Performance and Handling

The Aceman JCW e uses a single electric motor driving the front wheels. It produces 255 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, with a 49 kWh battery.

Mini claims a 0-62 mph time of 6.4 seconds, but our testing yielded a best of 6.5 seconds.

Power delivery is sharp and frenetic, especially compared to the all-wheel-drive Countryman.

The front-wheel-drive setup creates noticeable torque steer, pulling the wheel left and right under hard acceleration.

A Boost button on the steering wheel adds 27 hp for 10-second bursts.

In corners, the Aceman feels lighter than its 1,745 kg curb weight. The steering is ultra-direct, making it easy to place on the road.

However, traction control intervenes even when switched off, limiting some of the fun.

Ride Comfort and Range

The biggest drawback is the ride quality. The suspension is extremely firm, transmitting every bump and imperfection into the cabin.

On rough roads, the car feels jittery, making long commutes uncomfortable.

Range is rated at 355 km (221 miles).

With gentle driving and aggressive regenerative braking, we achieved around 14 kWh/100 km, suggesting the quoted range is achievable.

But spirited driving will significantly reduce it.

Inside, the cabin is stylish and joyful, with recycled materials, a circular infotainment screen, and excellent ambient lighting.

Rear space is tight for adults, and cargo capacity is 300 liters with seats up.

Priced at AU$65,990 ($46,200) in Australia, the Aceman JCW e is expensive for its size and range.

The harsh ride and torque steer make it hard to recommend over cheaper, less sporty versions or competitors like the Volvo EX30.
