A woman has been found dead in Missouri after her home was swept away by severe flooding caused by heavy rainfall.

The body of Faith Gregory was discovered Saturday morning about 1.8 miles downstream from her home in Crawford County, which had been torn from its foundation.

The Crawford County sheriff's office expressed disappointment over the outcome, extending condolences to Gregory's family and others affected.

No other individuals remain unaccounted for in the county, located roughly 70 miles southwest of St. Louis.

Emergency Rescues and Widespread Flooding

The National Weather Service had issued flash flood warnings as thunderstorms hit the region, impacting areas from the Ozark Mountains in southern Missouri to the Ohio and Tennessee river valleys.

In eastern Tennessee, flooding led to road closures and downed power lines, prompting authorities in Kentucky and West Virginia to advise residents to seek higher ground.

Matt Beitscher, a lead meteorologist with the NWS office in St. Louis, noted the area's popularity for recreation, including campgrounds and float trip locations, which left many vulnerable to flash flooding.

On Friday, intense rains closed roads near Camp Taum Sauk, trapping over 200 children and staff.

The Army National Guard used Black Hawk helicopters to rescue them, according to Sgt. Eddie Young of the state highway patrol.

The NWS warned that thunderstorms could continue to bring damaging winds and additional flash flooding across multiple states.
