“I'm more so disappointed in the way that Howard is acting, but I'm not disappointed in the school or the promise itself,” said Williams.

She urged university leaders to consider the dedication of the student body.

“It's the administration, and I would hope that they can take this as a lesson that their students, the students that they target, the students that want to come to these schools, are not ones that will give up easily.

We're leaders. We're fighters.

We shouldn't have to be fighting for this,” said Williams.

Williams called for systemic improvements regarding enrollment processing.

“They say that Howard teaches you how to advocate for yourself, but I shouldn't be advocating to afford to go to school or to be able to go to the school that I paid my enrollment deposit for, that I worked to go to,” said Williams.

Other Affected Students Share Similar Stories

Other incoming freshmen reported similar experiences after receiving notices that their spots in the incoming class were revoked.

“I rep them so hard, okay?

I rep them so hard and I just don't feel like I'm being supported or repped back,” said Dwayne Irvin, an unenrolled student.
