A shooting at the Bite of Seattle festival near the Space Needle on Sunday evening left two people dead and one injured, according to Seattle police.
The incident occurred around 6 p. m.

Deputy Chief Tyrone Davis of the Seattle Police Department said authorities believe two suspects exchanged gunfire. One suspect was taken into custody, while the other remains at large.
“We think two people were shooting at each other,” Davis said during a press briefing.
Two victims died at the scene, and a third person was injured and taken to Harborview Medical Center.
The injured individual is in stable condition, according to Seattle Fire spokesperson Grace Nuñez.
Two firearms were recovered. Police stated there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Seattle Governor Bob Ferguson deployed a SWAT unit to assist local police.
He expressed condolences, saying, “My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims and the responders working to protect the community.”
Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson described the shooting as a “horrific act of violence.” She thanked law enforcement for their swift response.
Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots during the festival’s closing hours. Vendor Roberto Ramirez said he heard sounds like firecrackers before people started shouting “shooter” and running.
Festival attendee Faith Adia Hunter said she and her friends sought shelter inside the Seattle Children’s Museum.

Another witness, Estan Wakonabo, described people falling and strollers being knocked down as they fled.
