A federal judge is preparing to issue a ruling on Monday regarding Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for hundreds of thousands of Haitians, as the legal protection faces expiration.
The decision will affect approximately 350,000 Haitians who currently rely on the program to remain in the United States legally.

The upcoming ruling follows a temporary delay issued by the judge on Friday, which halted the scheduled expiration of the protections.
Lawmakers Push for Extension
South Florida Republican members of Congress have actively pushed the Trump administration to extend the program, citing ongoing stability concerns in Haiti.
Republican officials from Florida emphasized the economic and practical necessity of keeping the program intact for current beneficiaries.
"I do believe that the TPS needs to be extended," said Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar, R-Florida.
Salazar noted that recipients are actively contributing to the domestic workforce.
"TPS needs to be upheld, and those who have TPS should continue in the country contributing to those jobs that they have been fulfilling up to now, and those employers need them," she said.
Other regional representatives pointed to the unyielding instability in Haiti as clear justification for continuing the federal relief program.
"We don't see any difference in the political situation in Haiti," said Rep. Carlos Giménez, R-Florida.
Giménez pushed back against negative perceptions surrounding the designation.
"Like I said, some people in the administration seem to think that somehow you say TPS is a bad word.
