The extreme temperatures coincide with widespread drought and heightened forest fire risks, triggering hazard levels 4 and 5 across the state.
"Der Boden ist so hart, wenn es da mal ein paar kleine Gewitter gibt, fließt das Wasser einfach weg und kann gar nicht in den Boden eindringen," said Bernd Madelener, SWR Weather Expert.
Meteorologists emphasize that light scattered showers will not alleviate the moisture deficit affecting regional soils, forests, and rivers.
"Lokal kommt das manchen zwar nicht so vor, aber generell betrachtet ist die Lage relativ dramatisch," said Madelener.
The upcoming heatwave marks the fifth potential heatwave of the season.
DWD meteorologist Marc Joußen noted that 23 of the first 27 days of July in Stuttgart exceeded long-term average temperatures.
"Bis Mitte August geht da noch was," said Marc Joußen, Meteorologist at the German Weather Service in Stuttgart.
