Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes announced a trade Monday that sends forward Sean Farrell to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Sasha Pastujov.

Pastujov, 23, spent the 2025-2026 season with the San Diego Gulls of the American Hockey League, recording 57 points (21 goals, 36 assists) in 71 games.

He led the Gulls in assists and points and finished second in goals.

The 6-foot, 186-pound forward joined the AHL in 2023-2024 and has played 160 career games, totaling 48 goals and 77 assists.

He is a restricted free agent with compensation, according to RDS and NHL. com.

International and Draft Background

Pastujov represented the United States at the 2022 World Junior Hockey Championship, collecting four points (one goal, three assists) in five games, as reported by RDS.

The Ducks selected Pastujov in the third round, 66th overall, of the 2021 NHL Draft, according to NHL.

Farrell, 24, is also a restricted free agent with compensation, RDS said. The Canadiens drafted him in the fourth round of the 2020 NHL Draft.

Farrell played six NHL games with Montreal after his college career at Harvard during the 2022-2023 season, per RDS.

Since then, Farrell has played for the Laval Rocket, posting seasons of 28 and 44 points.

He finished third among Canadiens' minor-league scorers last season behind Alex Belzile (62) and Laurent Dauphin (59), according to RDS.
