"I feel really (crappy) just how I played," said Refsnyder. "We've tried a lot of different things, and like I said, there's no excuses.
I haven't really been proud of how I competed or played. …"
Seattle enters the series seeking consistency after struggling as an offensive unit against left-handed starters for much of the 2026 campaign.
"My job is to have good at-bats for the team. Hopefully, get on base," said Refsnyder.
"And I think if we all can just try to focus on doing our job the best we can, I think we all know how talented we are as a group.
But if we try to force the issue, it's only going to get worse."
The veteran emphasized taking a focused approach to each series rather than dwelling on broader team expectations or past accomplishments.
"Honestly, it's hard not to look at the bigger picture, right?" said Refsnyder.
"Especially with the expectations and how (the team) did last year.
But if we can keep it small and just try to win series hopefully things will take care of themselves."
To clear a roster spot for Refsnyder's return, the Mariners designated infielder Buddy Kennedy for assignment.

Kennedy, acquired on June 29 from the San Francisco Giants for cash considerations, gathered one hit in 10 at-bats over five games with Seattle.
