Philp's comments came in response to statements made by Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham, who asserted that the Labour government's strategy to curb small boat crossings was yielding results.
In response to the footage and criticism, the UK Home Office issued an official statement defending the government's international enforcement record and ongoing bilateral initiatives.
"We are aware of posts circulating online that claim French law enforcement are failing to prevent small boat Channel crossings.
UK-French cooperation has already stopped over 46,000 attempted crossings since the election… But we know there is more to do," said the Home Office spokesperson.
