Manchester United is preparing an opening move to sign Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall, following the departure of manager Eddie Howe from St. James' Park, according to reports from TEAMtalk and the Mirror.
Technical director Jason Wilcox is driving United's interest in the 21-year-old England international, who is currently valued at £60 million.

The Old Trafford hierarchy views Hall as a long-term successor to Luke Shaw in the left-back position.
Hall completed a £35 million transfer to Newcastle from Chelsea in 2023 and is under contract until 2029.
He registered 46 appearances for the Magpies last season and has earned four senior caps for England.
Newcastle has already sold key squad members Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali during the current transfer window, while midfielder Bruno Guimaraes remains heavily linked with a potential move to Arsenal.
Alternative Targets and Other Moves
United has identified 19-year-old Racing Santander defender Jorge Salinas as an alternative target should a deal for Hall fail to materialize.
Salinas recently helped Spain win the UEFA European Under-19 Championship in Wales.
Barcelona remains in discussions with Racing Santander over Salinas, with Racing demanding €16 million while Barcelona offers €8 million.
United continues to monitor Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde as another option.
In other squad moves, Manchester United confirmed the permanent transfer of 21-year-old defender Tyler Fredricson to Swiss Super League club Lausanne-Sport.
