The junior college background of the roster shaped the identity of the current squad.
"We all have that competitive edge," said Ballinger. "We like to wear our emotions.
The guys on this team play with that edge; it brings it out of everybody. We play with a gritty, junior college mindset."
Stadium Upgrades and Injury Update
The program is currently monitoring stadium upgrades at Hoglund Ballpark as it remains in contention to host an NCAA Regional for the first time in program history.
However, the Jayhawks will play the conference tournament without junior All-American outfielder Brady Ballinger due to a wrist injury.
"Brady injured his hamate bone and we anticipate him back for the regional," said Fitzgerald.
The team is adjusting its outfield rotation to cover the absence of its star hitter.
"We've got multiple options," said Fitzgerald, mentioning Savion, Solis, and Dariel as potential replacements.
