The technical changes arrive during the season's third Sprint weekend, leaving drivers with only a single practice session to fine-tune the new aerodynamic components before competitive action begins.
Mercedes Focuses on Downforce and Starts
Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff emphasized the pressure to deliver immediate performance gains following increased competition from rival teams during the last race cycle.
"Our competitors took a step forward in Miami and we need to respond," said Wolff.
The German manufacturer focused its upgrades on a revised front wing, optimized floor elements, and a redesigned rear corner to improve overall downforce and airflow toward the diffuser.
"Sometimes upgrades don't correlate with the stopwatch, so we need to prove that out. I hope we can," added Wolff.
Wolff noted that cost cap limitations and development efficiency will dictate the trajectory of the title battle over the upcoming sequence of seven races in ten weeks.
Championship leader Kimi Antonelli received a tailored mechanical update, including a newly reshaped clutch paddle, following a series of poor race starts during the opening four rounds of 2026.
