Premier Acknowledges Frustration, Points to Upgrades

British Columbia Premier David Eby acknowledged the public dissatisfaction surrounding the closure of the provincial sports heritage site but pointed toward future facility upgrades.

The Premier emphasized that the temporary disruption would ultimately yield a positive outcome for the local sports community once the global tournament concludes.

Family members of celebrated British Columbia athletes contained in the collection shared their dismay regarding the operational shutdown during a major tourism window.

"I think it’s disappointing for the province, I think it’s disappointing for the city," said Donna Moore, stepmother of the late B.

C. race car driver Greg Moore.

Moore noted that the closure robs the city of an opportunity to highlight its regional athletic achievements to visiting international soccer fans.

"And we have a chance to showcase our other athletes at this and to have it closed and to have people out of work for two months is really not the way we should be going in the province," said Moore.
