Analysts Weigh In
Varying opinions emerged from analysts regarding the performance of the two drivers, with some focusing entirely on individual lap speeds.
Former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher shared his perspective on the qualifying outcome with Sky Germany.
"Kimi was faster.
And for him to get that close to George with just one lap – that was a very strong performance," said Ralf Schumacher, analyst for Sky Germany.
Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff provided a more detailed breakdown of the technical difficulties faced by both drivers during the session.
Wolff noted that the team struggled to find the optimal setup early on.
"I don’t think we gave them a top car for qualifying today," said Toto Wolff, team principal of Mercedes.
