Spurs coach Mitch Johnson praised Wembanyama's competitive drive and leadership during the critical Game 4 victory.

"Our competitive response all year has been pretty good, and he has been at the forefront of that," Johnson said.

Johnson highlighted how Wembanyama embraced the challenge of establishing defensive and offensive intensity from the opening tip.

"Tonight he felt an obligation to set a tone for us in a variety of ways. The aggressiveness was a reflection of that.

I think he wants that responsibility. He's built for it," Johnson added.

The coach emphasized that translating defensive plays into fast-break opportunities remains the primary identity of the roster.

"Any time we can turn defence into offence, turnovers and rebounding, that's when we're at our best," Johnson said.

San Antonio maximized their transition game after securing defensive rebounds and loose balls throughout the second half.

"We can get out and run and play and get out in pace.

Our activity was great tonight, and we're going to need to get better at it as the series moves on," Johnson said.

The half-court basket provided an emotional lift for the team heading into the locker room.

"We needed that momentum going into the second half," said Devin Vassell.
