The Carolina Hurricanes and Montreal Canadiens are locked in a 2-2 tie after three periods in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Final at the Bell Centre on Monday, May 25, 2026.

Mike Matheson equalized for Montreal later in the frame with a point shot from the top of the circles against the line of Jordan Staal and Nikolaj Ehlers.

Taylor Hall restored the Hurricanes' lead by poking the puck past Jakub Dobes during a scrum generated by defenseman K'Andre Miller.

Despite Carolina holding a 15-5 shooting edge in the first period, Montreal leveled the score again in the second period on a power play after Jordan Martinook received a slashing penalty.

Lane Hutson scored the second equalizer on a fast-break pass from Cole Caufield, with goaltender Jakub Dobes providing an assist to secure his first career playoff point.

Dobes became the first Canadiens netminder to record a playoff power-play assist since Patrick Roy in 1990.

Montreal nearly took a 3-2 lead through Caufield, but officials overturned the goal as offside following a coach's challenge by Rod Brind'Amour.

Pre-Game Comments and Player Updates

During pre-game preparations on Monday morning, personnel from both franchises addressed the high-stakes matchup.

"You've got to embrace it, you've got to enjoy it," said Aho.
