Susan noted that the group intensified their chants despite the couple not displaying any visible San Antonio branding during the encounter.
"They started circling us and saying, Knicks in 4, Knicks in 4," Susan said.
The couple adjusted their plans due to the volatile environment, choosing to avoid crowded local venues entirely. "We were actually wearing Yankees gear," Susan said.
Susan emphasized that prioritizing personal safety remains paramount for any visiting sports spectators in the city.
"The first time I heard it, I thought, of course I'm going to wear my jersey," Susan said.
She reflected on how her previous residency in the metropolitan area influenced her initial confidence before witnessing the crowd dynamics firsthand.
"This is a big deal and so what? I'm just as crazy.
New York made me that way," Susan said.
The couple observed a general lack of visiting jerseys due to the visible risks associated with public displays of support.
"We just saw that there was like this dangerous element of, you know, a group of younger people that were looking for trouble, and you could just tell that it was not going to end well for some people," Susan said.
They concluded their warning by urging fellow travelers to remain vigilant throughout the remainder of the championship series.
"We knew not wearing our jerseys was a wise choice," Susan said.
Her husband, Chris, expressed disappointment that fan hostility prevented visitors from safely participating in the historic playoff atmosphere.
"I was wearing my Meta glasses, which can capture video and cameras," Susan said.
