Juventus have agreed to personal terms with Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, according to Italian media reports on Saturday.

The Serie A club finalized a contract package with the Argentine international's representatives, though formal club-to-club financial agreements have not yet been established.

The 33-year-old World Cup winner is set to sign a multi-year deal with Juventus, but the transfer fee remains a sticking point.

Aston Villa value Martinez at a minimum of €15 million, while Juventus submitted an initial offer of €5 million.

Villa Prepare for Potential Departure

Aston Villa have privately acknowledged the possibility of Martinez leaving and have begun searching for replacements.

The Premier League club has initiated preliminary inquiries for candidates including Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, as reported by SportsBoom.

Villa's contingency list has expanded to include Real Sociedad's Alex Remiro, Brighton's Bart Verbruggen, and Manchester City's James Trafford.

Football finance expert Kieran Maguire noted that Villa's financial situation remains constrained despite Champions League qualification.

"Villa qualifying for the Champions League will open the purse a fair amount, but they were certainly constrained in 2025-26 and I suspect there's a fair chance that will roll over to next season," Maguire said.

The English club also faces a compliance framework following a prior UEFA settlement agreement, which continues to regulate their recruitment expenditures.

Juventus are evaluating alternative options, including Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and Atletico Madrid's Jan Oblak, due to the financial demands imposed by Aston Villa.
