The Atlanta Braves have acquired catcher Joey Bart from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for right-handed pitcher Hunter Stratton, the teams announced Thursday night.
The move addresses a sudden roster opening behind the plate for the National League East-leading Braves, who hold a 46-27 record.

To clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Bart, Atlanta designated catcher Sandy León for assignment. León had batted .

The Pirates assigned Stratton to Triple-A Indianapolis after the trade was completed.
