Ferrari has announced it will reveal something special on July 4, fueling speculation that a manual-transmission 12Cilindri is on the way.
CEO Benedetto Vigna hinted at the launch during a dealer conference in Las Vegas, saying, “in a few weeks… you will see something new where we put together something from the past with eyes on the future.”

Patent Points to Innovative Manual Gearbox
A recent Ferrari patent filing depicts a shift-by-wire manual transmission, similar to the system used in the Koenigsegg CC850.
The design allows drivers to operate the car as a traditional six-speed manual with a gated shifter, or switch to automatic mode via R, N, D, and M buttons.
The shifter moves along two axes and uses a pin connected to a small ECU, with spring-loaded contact rollers to simulate an authentic manual feel.

Another filing indicates the system can be integrated with Ferrari’s existing dual-clutch transmission, including the one in the 12Cilindri, potentially making it a plug-and-play addition with a clutch pedal.
If confirmed, this would mark Ferrari’s first manual road car since the 599 GTB in 2012.
