as an exceptionally strong storm cell passed 12 miles south of Oregon City. Officials dropped the warning by 4:00 p.

m. without any confirmed tornado touchdowns or reports of structural damage.

The unstable weather system brought severe thunderstorms, heavy hail, and significant downpours across Western Oregon and Southwest Washington.

A lightning strike hit a golfer in Clackamas County shortly before the funnel cloud sightings.

"Expect damage to mobile homes, roofs, and vehicles," said the National Weather Service of Portland.

The agency advised residents in the storm's path to seek immediate safety inside durable buildings.

Avoid windows.

Another funnel cloud was observed east of Sweet Home around 4:00 p. m.

as rainfall rates reached nearly an inch per hour in some areas.

Portland recorded a quarter of an inch of rain, while Troutdale received 0.65 inches by Saturday evening.

"The spotter report was the reason why NWS Portland issued the warning," said Bobby Corser, Storm Tracker 2 Digital Meteorologist.

He noted that meteorological equipment indicated internal storm movement prior to receiving visual confirmations from the ground.

"We detected rotation on the radar, but the ground truth confirmed it," Corser added.

Most precipitation began tracking southeast toward the foothills and Cascades as the evening progressed, signaling a gradual end to the severe conditions.

"We will continue to see strong showers and thunderstorms for the rest of the afternoon," Corser said.
