A 32-year-old Illinois man has filed a personal injury lawsuit against a major online sports betting platform, alleging its design fueled his severe gambling addiction.

The lawsuit was filed in a Chicago federal court on June 24, 2026.

The plaintiff, identified as Dane Miller, claims the platform used addictive algorithmic tools that dismantled user safeguards and targeted him with loyalty incentives after he lost over $2 million.

According to court documents, the financial losses depleted his personal savings, retirement funds, and wedding capital.

He also lost his job in September 2024.

The legal filing states that Miller required emergency hospitalization in October 2024 for severe mental distress and suicidal ideation.

He later completed an intensive outpatient treatment program.

The lawsuit seeks compensatory and punitive damages for medical expenses, lost earnings, and emotional distress.
