Officials cited that emergency departments experienced deep strain after encountering an influx of patients suffering from dehydration and heat-related conditions.
The trust reported that 188 individuals were waiting in the accident and emergency department at 16:00 BST, alongside 20 ambulances waiting with patients.
Hospital representatives described the situation as involving unacceptable delays.
The administration noted that the facilities were under severe and sustained pressure. A spokesperson explained the operational environment via an official statement.
"We have seen an increasing demand on our services over recent days, partly due to the prolonged period of extreme heat experienced," the trust stated.
The organization elaborated on the ongoing struggles inside the wards.
"This has led to unacceptable delays in our A&E department and across our hospital wards," the trust added.
Management urged the public to assist by facilitating discharges for individuals who are medically fit to leave.
"We need support from families and community partners to help more patients to return home when they are able to," the trust added.
Despite the high volumes, scheduled operations and routine visits remain active across the city network.
"All planned care is still going ahead so please attend your appointments unless told otherwise," the trust added.
