Brazil forward Vinicius Jr has pledged to continue his global fight against racism, emphasizing that his off-field impact outweighs his on-field achievements.

In an interview with Globo TV published on Monday, the 25-year-old Real Madrid star credited his grandmother for his upbringing and success.

“My grandmother is a very important person in my life. I lived with her until I was 16 years old,” said Vinicius Jr.

He recalled growing up in a small, crowded household where his grandmother was a vital support pillar alongside his mother and siblings, as his father lived far away.

“The house was very small; I slept with her. I even run out of words.

She's a person who marked my life,” he added.

Vinicius Jr has faced racial abuse at stadiums across Europe, sparking legal proceedings and international discussions on discrimination in football.

“These achievements off the field are much more important than those on the field, because I can help a lot more people,” he said.

He expressed a desire to shield future generations from racism and use his platform to advocate for those without a public voice.

“May the evolution continue so that the next generation doesn't suffer from racism.

I want to keep doing great things on the field, but also inspire young people and fight for all Black people who don't have the voice that I have,” said Vinicius Jr.
