BMW has introduced the fifth-generation X5 luxury SUV, featuring five distinct powertrain choices: gasoline, diesel, plug-in hybrid, electric, and hydrogen.
The new model, designated G65, adopts BMW's Neue Klasse design language.

The fully electric iX5 60 xDrive is the first mass-production battery-electric X5.
It uses a 141 kWh battery in Europe (144 kWh in the US) and produces 570 hp and 593 lb-ft of torque.
The dual-motor setup accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 4.6 seconds and targets a WLTP range of up to 525 miles.
The electric variant operates on an 800-volt architecture with 460 kW charging capacity, allowing a 10-80% charge in 22 minutes.
For the hybrid lineup, the X5 M60e xDrive plug-in hybrid combines a 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbo engine with an electric motor for 603 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, offering up to 61 miles of all-electric range.

The gasoline-powered X5 40 delivers 394 hp and 428 lb-ft of torque in the US market.
Design updates include double X-motifs in the headlights, vertical kidney grilles, and a single-piece rear tailgate replacing the traditional split design.
Flush electronic door releases reduce aerodynamic drag.
Inside, the cabin mirrors the 7 Series with a 17.9-inch central touchscreen running iDrive X, a passenger-side dashboard screen, and a Panoramic Vision projection system.

Manufacturing for gasoline and diesel variants begins in August at BMW's Spartanburg, South Carolina plant. Plug-in hybrid and iX5 assembly starts later in December.
