The Metropolitan Police have deployed advanced familial DNA techniques across the UK to trace a suspect accused of raping two vulnerable women in south London during daylight hours.

Detectives are analyzing a familial DNA list compiled by the National Crime Agency to identify potential biological relatives of the attacker.

Investigation Details

The investigation began after a woman was raped in a derelict area of Sewell Road, Abbey Wood, on June 19, 2024.

Forensic evidence later linked the same suspect to an earlier assault near the Thames Path in Thamesmead in May 2020.

Officers have traveled nationwide to collect voluntary DNA samples from individuals who may be related to the perpetrator.

Police have also re-released a CCTV image of a man wearing a white vest, jeans, and white trainers.

“This man has targeted two very vulnerable women, raping them in daylight hours in residential areas,” said Detective Chief Inspector Zoe Hendrick, who leads the investigation.

Previous public appeals did not confirm the suspect’s identity, prompting the renewed effort.

“Investigations of this nature are extremely rare and our priority has been to support the victims and identify the man responsible,” Hendrick added.

Authorities hope that changes in personal circumstances or new exposure to the case will encourage people to come forward with information using reference CAD 3842/30JUN2026.

“In addition to the DNA enquiries, we previously issued an image of a man we would like to speak with.
