Cink is chasing his third consecutive senior major championship this season, having won the Senior PGA Championship in April and the Regions Tradition in May.

The 156-player field was selected from 2,780 international entries.

Defending champion Padraig Harrington, who beat Cink by one stroke last year at The Broadmoor, is in the field.

Scioto Country Club Hosts Again

Scioto Country Club underwent a major redesign in 2021 to restore its original 1916 Donald Ross layout. The venue is hosting the U.

S. Senior Open for the third time, after Dale Douglass won in 1986 and Gene Sauers in 2016.

Former Ohio State basketball standout Michael Redd serves as honorary chair. Redd, a 2008 Olympic gold medalist, said the event is meaningful to him personally.

“One of the great honors you could ever have. Golf has meant so much to me over the years,” Redd said.

He added, “To hold it in my hometown, it means the world to me.”

Redd described golf as an “oasis” from his competitive career, having played for 25 years.

The tournament coincides with Upper Arlington’s centennial Independence Day festivities on July 4, leading to local traffic adjustments.
