Codey Gauff, the younger brother of two-time Grand Slam champion Coco Gauff, showcased his baseball talent at the annual MLB Draft Combine at Chase Field in Phoenix.

The catcher from Elite Squad Baseball Academy is determined to forge his own professional identity as the draft approaches.

Gauff earned his invitation to the combine after posting a near . 500 on-base percentage and winning league MVP honors this season.

While his sister prepared for Wimbledon, he met with scouts and teams who frequently asked about his famous family ties.

"At the end of the day, I'm myself," Gauff said. He expressed pride in his sister's global accomplishments but remains focused on his personal goals.

"I want to keep doing my name for myself. She's worldwide, so obviously people are going to ask.

I'm not ashamed of it or anything. If anything, it's just, being the next up in the family."

The switch-hitter, committed to the University of Missouri, noted his sister's full support for his professional aspirations.

"She wants me to go as far as I can," he said. Having a sibling pursuing elite athletic dreams serves as unique motivation.

"It's a blessing to have siblings playing at the next level and striving for the same dreams.

A lot of guys don't have the same opportunity as their siblings. We're both striving to be something great."

Choosing Between Pro Ball and College

Gauff's combine attendance leaves open the choice to turn professional this summer instead of attending college.
