Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that the norovirus outbreak impacted 102 passengers and 23 crew members on the Ruby Princess during a 20-day round-trip journey to Canada and Alaska.
According to the CDC, the vessel carried 3,032 passengers and 1,144 crew members, and the outbreak was initially reported to the agency on Saturday.
The health agency noted that symptoms include the sudden onset of vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach pain, and the virus has caused seven cruise ship illness outbreaks within CDC jurisdiction so far this year.
