Alaskans celebrated America's 250th anniversary on Saturday, July 4, 2026, with widespread events spanning from community parades to distinctive high-altitude spectacles across multiple regions.

In Anchorage, the state's largest city hosted an all-day festival at the Delaney Park Strip featuring carnival rides, live music, a beer garden, and an 11 a.

Later in the evening, the Anchorage Glacier Pilots faced the Anchorage Bucs in an annual Alaska Baseball League doubleheader at Mulcahy Stadium, which concluded with a fireworks display.

Unique Traditions Across Alaska

Meanwhile, the community of Glacier View drew nationwide visitors for its unique holiday tradition of launching brightly painted vehicles off a 300-foot cliff.

The event, which began in 2005 after a resident opted to discard a damaged car, has expanded to include a U.

S. Coast Guard flyover and food vendors.

Simultaneously, Seward hosted the 98th running of the Mount Marathon Race, a grueling 3.1-mile mountain run ascending 3,022 feet with slopes reaching up to 60 degrees.

The city paired the historic race with a multi-day festival featuring a fish toss, a midnight fireworks display, and an afternoon parade along Fourth Avenue.

Other regional celebrations occurred in Fairbanks, where Pioneer Park held a traditional Salute to the 50 States ceremony, and Girdwood, which hosted its 51st annual Forest Fair.

Additional parades, picnics, and community games took place in Bethel, Chugiak, Eagle River, Homer, Houston, Kodiak, Nome, North Pole, Sutton, Two Rivers, Utqiagvik, Valdez, Wainwright, Wasilla, Talkeetna, and Juneau.
