The event marks the first time in the structure's 89-year history that pyrotechnics will be fired from the span during July, following previous May spectacles in 1987 and 2012.
Bridge Closure and Traffic Impact
The Golden Gate Bridge Authority will enforce a complete bridge closure from 9 p. m.
to 10 p. m.
, while Caltrans will initiate freeway lane and ramp closures starting at 8 p. m.
to ensure public safety.
Local transport operators anticipate immense post-event gridlock throughout the adjacent waterfront sectors and the financial district.
"It's horrible in the financial district, after the fireworks, every street is completely blocked," noted Brian Giesler, a local pedicab driver.

National Weather Service models indicate that a marine layer will bring low clouds and fog into the Golden Gate during the evening hours, potentially filtering the high-altitude performance.
Pyrotechnics will launch from eight spars on the two towers, with major shells engineered to burst between 1,000 and 1,600 feet above the water line.
Organizers confirmed the 15-minute show will proceed regardless of weather conditions because removing loaded shells from mortars poses significant safety hazards.
"As long as we have a clear view of the bridge, that is really what means everything to us," said Pat Dyas, who is running Saturday's display for Pyro Spectaculars.
San Francisco Fire Department personnel issued safety warnings to the public regarding steep coastal viewpoints and advised spectators to utilize official viewing zones like Crissy Field and Fisherman's Wharf.
"We want you to stay on the trails, don't go off the trails, and if someone falls or goes down the cliff, to not go and get them and to call 911," said Samuel Menchaca, San Francisco Fire Department Rescue Captain.
