Sri Lanka reached 338 for five at stumps on the opening day of the second Test against the West Indies at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Friday.

Opener Lahiru Udara led the charge with a brilliant 188 runs, his maiden Test century.

The 32-year-old right-hander struck 21 fours and five sixes in a 248-ball innings before falling to Alzarri Joseph late in the final session.

Udara got the chance to open due to a wrist injury to Pathum Nissanka.

He shared a dominant 215-run third-wicket partnership with Kamindu Mendis, who made 84 off 120 deliveries with 11 boundaries.

Mendis was dismissed when wicketkeeper Shai Hope, returning from a shoulder injury, stumped him off Justin Greaves' medium-pace.

West Indies fought back in the final half-hour as fast bowler Jayden Seales claimed his 100th Test wicket.

Seales induced an edge from Sri Lankan captain Dhananjaya de Silva, who was caught at second slip for 33 runs shortly after Udara's dismissal.

Earlier, Shamar Joseph removed Nishan Madushka and Dinesh Chandimal cheaply to leave Sri Lanka struggling at 25 for two.
