Speaks reflected on the adversity he faced after being waived by the Chiefs in 2019 due to an MCL injury.
"Kind of went through some adversity in Kansas City, got injured, wound up getting cut by the Chiefs, which was devastating," he said.
"That was hard."
He noted that he eventually learned to appreciate the game more. "At the end of the day, I love to play football.
I just love to be around the guys," Speaks said.
Speaks emphasized the life lessons football taught him, including accountability and hard work. "Football is giving me life lessons, whether it's hard work, effort, or accountability," he said.
He hopes to be remembered for his effort and attitude.
"I hope they remember me by the way I played the game, my effort that I brought to it, and the attitude I brought to it," Speaks said.

Ultimately, Speaks expressed no regrets about his career. "I think it was all worth it," he said.
