Woodruff Exits with Apparent Injury
Brewers starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff exited the game in the fourth inning after his velocity dropped sharply, with his fastball bottoming out at 85.8 mph.
It was his third start since returning from right shoulder inflammation.
Before the game, Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy praised Woodruff's resilience. "Woody's just a great story in it himself, just the way he conducts himself as a starter.
He's been magnificent," Murphy said.
After the defeat, Murphy indicated the right-hander would likely need another stint on the injured list. Woodruff noted the discomfort felt identical to his earlier shoulder issues.
"First inning was fine, then it was kind of a slow progression of discomfort," Woodruff said. He added, "It's kind of the life of my shoulder.
You hope that it will hold on until the end of the year and then you reassess and make some adjustments."
Woodruff expressed frustration with the recurring nature of his shoulder problems. "It gets a little frustrating dealing with this.
