Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli claimed his first sprint race victory by overtaking Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton during the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.
Hamilton started the 17-lap race from pole position and built an early lead over Antonelli before the 19-year-old Italian caught up and completed the winning pass on lap eight.

Antonelli finished 2.7 seconds ahead of Hamilton, while McLaren's Lando Norris took third and Mercedes driver George Russell finished fourth.
Championship Implications
The sprint victory allowed Antonelli to expand his championship lead over his teammate Russell from 40 points to 43 points, leaving Hamilton 47 points behind the leader.
Norris briefly held second place after gaining three spots on the opening lap before Antonelli reclaimed the position at Stowe.
A multi-car battle unfolded behind the leaders as Russell moved ahead of Oscar Piastri and Norris to reach third, only to lose the positions back to Norris and Red Bull's Max Verstappen within a single lap.
Russell eventually overtook Verstappen on the ninth lap to finish fourth, 10.6 seconds behind the winner.
Ferrari's Charles Leclerc also moved past Verstappen to claim fifth place at the checkered flag, leaving the Red Bull driver in sixth after starting the sprint from third position.
