"Our Targeted Case Review has already examined over 1.1m claims, resulting in nearly a quarter of a million corrections and Debt Management teams have also recovered a record £3.1bn in 2024-25.

While the overall rate of fraud and error is at its lowest since the pandemic, we have plans to go even further," said a Government Spokesman.

In a final statement regarding pension credits, the welfare department announced targeted guidance to ensure compliance among older demographics.

"We're taking action to fix the broken welfare system we inherited, including extending the Targeted Case Review to Pension Credit – building on £1 billion already saved from incorrect payments.
