The DSA advocates for heavy government intervention in healthcare, education, and housing to reduce economic disparity.
Its website states that capitalism is a system designed by the wealthy to exploit others.
The group campaigns for raising the minimum wage, extending parental leave, implementing a 32-hour work week, and establishing universal healthcare under the slogan "Tax the rich."
It also calls for ending US military aid to Israel, supporting Palestinian self-governance, demilitarizing police, and abolishing prisons.
Björn Soenens, a US expert at VRT NWS, said the party's success is unsurprising given economic pressures on voters.

He noted that rural voters often support wealth redistribution but are less aligned with socio-cultural stances, leading some candidates to avoid polarizing culture-war topics.

He argued that citizens must choose between patriotism and Marxist ideologies.
