Addressing her past career decisions, Ekiz discussed her refusal to take over Eva Jinek's late-night slot at NPO 1 when Jinek moved to RTL 4 in 2019.
“I've always been someone who dared to take risks, but I realize now that I could have been much freer in that.
I sometimes had fear of failure, let offers go because I thought: you are not ready for that at all,” she said.
Ekiz explained that her self-criticism held her back, though she now feels more emotionally stable and self-confident. “I was like: who do you think you are?
By being so critical of myself, I also did myself an injustice.
Now I think more than ever: bring it on, what do I have to lose if I do try something,” she said.
This newfound confidence has prompted Ekiz to venture into creative writing by working on a roman à clef, a project she previously feared would draw public criticism.
“I never dared to do that, I always thought people would be like: another one of those people who thinks they can write a novel.
But it is a dream of mine to do this,” she said.
