Conservative Senator Leo Housakos, who serves as the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, welcomed the new appointees and extended specific greetings to his former caucus colleague on social media.
"Pleased to congratulate Dr. Rodney Ouellette, Thomas Pitfield, Geeta Tucker, on their appointments to the Senate of Canada – and especially pleased to welcome my friend and longtime caucus colleague, Richard Martel to the Upper Chamber," said Housakos.
