Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani crushed a 409-foot line drive to center field on Tuesday night, recording his 300th career home run.

The milestone made him the first Japanese-born player to achieve the mark.

The homer came off Colorado Rockies pitcher Michael Lorenzen on a 2-0 pitch. It was Ohtani's 20th home run of the season.

Center fielder Cole Carrigg watched the ball clear the wall. Teammate Freddie Freeman bowed as Ohtani returned to the dugout.

Ohtani reached the milestone in 1,102 games split between the Los Angeles Angels and the Dodgers. He is the fifth-fastest player to enter the 170-member 300-homer club.

New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge holds the speed record at 955 games.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts praised the mechanics and power behind the historic hit.

"It was quite the homer," Roberts said.

"It was 119 (mph exit velocity) off the bat, low-launching, it was squared up, got out in a hurry.

I just marvel at him every day. Three hundred is a big number."

The manager expects the newly 32-year-old slugger to continue climbing the historic ranks. Ohtani went 3-for-4 with another home run during Monday's 11-inning victory.

"He just had a birthday, still young, still strong, so I definitely think 500 is in his future," Roberts added.
